What I need to learn is to not be disheartened by the things that don’t go my way.

I am that girl.

To all the beautiful girls in the world,

I have come across this incredible organisation called ‘I am that girl’. It’s about inspiring girls to realise their true beauty and worth. It’s a community that wants to bring all of us gals together and instead of breaking eachother down it’s about bringing us together.

Every single one of us have felt the feeling of imperfection, we have felt the feeling of worthlessness and feeling unloved but we have only ever felt that feeling because of comments we have heard or the things we read in the papers. At the end of the day those people do not know us. Those people do not realise the strength we have within us and that strength is far more powerful than a nasty comment.

I was sitting in the car with one of my gals and a woman walked past who was overweight and she said ” oh look at that fat girl, thats what you call fat.” You know in that moment in time I wanted to cry, I thought to myself that woman was walking down the street minding her own business and someone who does NOT know her could make a nasty remark on her. It made me think about what she may say about me behind my back, or what  she says about my mother behind her back. I said to her “my mums bigger than that woman, what do you say about my mother behind her back?” and she said “No but your mum is lovely.” Well for all she knows that woman could have had the most beautiful heart.

So what I am trying to say is instead of dragging eachother down, lets pull eachother up and open our eyes to the possiblity of different types of beauty. So next time when you are about to say a nasty comment about someone else ask yourself this question: When you point out an ‘imperfection’ on someone does it make you feel any better about yourself?

Everyone has bullied someone before, you’re not innocent.

In all honesty, we have all experienced a form of bullying whether we think we have or not. A simple comment may not be intentionally hurtful but it can really bruise some people’s hearts and that to them is being bullied. It’s an ugly thing that exsists and I hope one day in the world it would be banished; but for now all we can do is make changes and use our little voices to make awareness to the world that it is wrong and to aware people that the things they do or say might really upset someone. So when people say I have never bullied someone before, ask yourself this question, have you ever hurt someone?
